What is this ?
Teleradiology, in its simplest forms, indicates the distribution and/ or transmission of radiological images of patients to diagnostic centers, doctors, physicians, nurses, technologists etc. so that, they can view the images for further interpretation and consultation.
It is important since the growth rate of radiological imaging procedures is much greater than the growth rate of trained radiologists, leading to an acute shortfall of manpower.

Teleradiology uses the standardized networking solutions like telephone lines, internet, wide area network (WAN) and local area network (LAN). Radiographic images are captured at a distance location and then sent to the central hub by high-speed secure networks, where the images are interpreted and feedback sent to clients. Thus, this service is effective, time-saving, efficient and suitable for customized reporting.
For having the test done, no special preparation is necessary. This test is totally non-invasive and painless and does not require any accessories. The concerned physician, however, must be contacted for prior approval
