BIOPSY AND DRAINAGE PROCEDURES

What is this ?

A biopsy is a medical test performed by a surgeon, interventional radiologist or cardiologist, which involves the removal of sample tissue from the patient body so that further examination is possible. It may be carried out with the aid of x-ray, ultrasound, CT or MRI.

Drainage procedures refer to the minor surgical procedures to release pus, abscess, boil or pressure that had got built under the skin, by treating the area with an antiseptic and then making a small puncture using sterile equipments.

Why I need this :

A biopsy is generally recommended when it can clarify certain medical conditions, such as:

  1. A mammogram showing a lump or mass, indicating the possibility of breast cancer.
  2. A possible case of melanoma when a mole on the skin has changed shape recently.
  3. A person suffering from chronic hepatitis and now it is important to know whether he is suffering from cirrhosis, too.
  4. Sometimes, the biopsy of a normal -appearing tissue may also be done, to know about postoperative tissue rejection or the spread of cancer.

Conditions initiate and then go on to deteriorate, such as in the form of pus or boil, and the best option is to get rid of those are drainage procedures.

Services offered :

Needle biopsy : A needle is used to access the suspicious tissue.

Ultrasound guided biopsy : The concerned doctor administers the needle into the lesion with the help of an ultrasound scanner.

Bone biopsy : It is done to check the possibility of cancer in the bones.

Skin biopsy : A punch biopsy is done by a circular blade to get a cylindrical sample of skin tissue.

Liver biopsy : A needle is injected into the liver through the skin on the belly, thus extracting liver tissue.

Kidney tissue biopsy : A needle is injected through the skin of the back into the kidney, thus extracting kidney tissue, and this process is very similar to the liver biopsy procedure.

For operating drainage procedures, hemostat, syringe and saline for irrigation, packing gauge and dressing supplies are needed.

What shall I expect :

Four hours of fasting might be necessary for biopsy. The time period of a biopsy might extend from 15 minutes to 45 minutes, and the reports depend on our certified pathologists. For drainage procedures, no prior preparations are required, and there are no reports.
